Sporty Spice

Helena posing on the driveway yesterday morning. She was all excited to wear her "sporty" clothes for "physical education" class, which she now gets to participate in because she is in 1st Grade.

Back to School!

Yesterday marked the start of the new school year. Helena was excited to head back to school and start 1st Grade. Jonathan has also graduated to a new toddler room at daycare.

Helena picked out her own outfit for the first day.

Jonathan is prepared for the continuing rainy weather.

Helena survived the first day...

...well, other than a few blisters from her new shoes. Here she is soaking her foot. Jonathan didn't want to be left out, so he is soaking his feet as well.

Big Boy Bed

Jonathan spent the past weekend transitioning from his crib to a toddler bed. So far, so good.

Right at home!

A Night at the Beach

Sometimes we forget how close we really are to the Jersey shore. We jumped in the car last night and headed to Sandy Hook to walk on the beach. Besides seeing a beachside wedding, we saw plenty of people flying kites and playing in the water.

Goodbye summer!

With school starting this week, this weekend represented the family's last trip to the town's acquatic center and pool.

Welcome Back College Football!

Besides representing the ceremonial end of summer, Labor Day weekend also represented the start of college football season. Jeff was anxious to see if his alma mater's football team would improve with a new coach and a new attitude. Helena was excited to wear her new cheerleading outfit, and Jonathan was excited to say "Meechigan" and "Go Boo". Everybody was excited for Sara's ever-famous pre-game tailgate. Helena and Jonathan couldn't wait for the game to finally start!

Great American Bake Sale

At the start of the week, Helena's day camp held "The Great American Bake Sale." Kids were encouraged to bring in baked goods to sell to parents and kids at the camp as well as people who passed by. We were fortunate that, as a result of the hurricane last weekend, Sara had time to bake brownies for the event. All of the money raised was donated to children who were not as fortunate to attend a day camp like Helena and the other kids.
